1,900 students enrolled in Runnels County schools during 2023-24 school year

There were 1,900 students enrolled in Runnels County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 1.9% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

At the time, Runnels County had the 91st lowest enrollment in the state.

Data also showed that white students made up 49.1% of the student body, the largest percentage in Runnels County schools, followed by Hispanic students at 47.4%, Black students at 0.9%, American Indian students at 0.3%, Asian students at 0.2%, Pacific Islander students at 0.1% and multiracial students at 2.1%.

A recent study by WalletHub classified Texas as one of the least-educated states in the U.S., ranking it 41st out of 50 in educational quality and student outcomes.
