There were 3,443 students enrolled in Brownwood ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, a slight decrease from the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.1% of them were boys, and 48.9% were girls.

The most represented ethnicity among Brownwood ISD students was white, accounting for 46.1% of the student population.

Brownwood ISD roughly covers schools within Brown County with its main office in Brownwood.

Among the seven schools in Brownwood ISD, Brownwood High School recorded the highest enrollment of 971 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
