Palo Pinto County schools enrolled 3,082 students who identified as economically disadvantaged in the state during the 2021-22 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of the 4,565 students enrolled in Palo Pinto County schools, 67.5% were considered economically disadvantaged. This is a 3% decrease from the previous school year.

Palo Pinto County enrolled the 97th highest number of students identified as economically disadvantaged among Texas counties.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they're offering better education for more Texas students.
