CENTRAL TEXAS COLLEGE: CTC swears in two new police officers

Central Texas College issued the following announcement.

The Central Texas College (CTC) campus police recently added two new officers to its staff. Sergeant Robert Taylor and Officer Brianne Bass were sworn in to duty during the November meeting of the CTC Board of Trustees by board chairman Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Rex Weaver.

Sergeant Taylor is a veteran of the United States Army with 23 years of service. He served five tours of combat as an infantry leader and held the position of command sergeant major while wearing the rank of first sergeant prior to his retirement. Since his retirement, Sergeant Taylor has worked in corrections and law enforcement, graduating from Capital Area County of Governments Regional Law Enforcement Academy. He is a certified mental health deputy with the Coryell County Crisis Intervention Unit, a crisis/hostage negotiator and a certified advanced SWAT team member with the Coryell County Sheriff’s Department.

Sergeant Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Capella University, graduating summa cum laude. He is also a certified Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) instructor, certified sexual assault/family violence investigator, certified pistol and patrol rifle instructor, certified defensive tactics instructor, certified less than lethal weapons instructor and holds a TCOLE master peace officer certification.

Officer Bass served in the Army National Guard of Alabama for four months and attended George C. Wallace Community College at Fort Rucker where she obtained a certificate in cosmetology in 2008. Five years later she moved to Copperas Cove and attended Central Texas College graduating with an Associate of Arts degree in interdisciplinary studies. Bass continued her education at Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice and a minor in forensic investigation.

In 2019, Bass earned a Certificate of Completion as a graduate of the CTC Police Academy Basic Peace Officer Course-Alpha class. She passed the TCOLE license exam to become a peace officer in Texas. Prior to joining the CTC campus police, Bass worked as a patrol deputy for the Coryell County Sheriff’s Department.
