Stephenville awarded over $112,000 to help in COVID-19 fight

The state's Public Safety Office will provide $41 million in federal funds to assist cities and counties in their COVID-19 response, including $112,400 to the City of Stephenville.

"I thank our federal partners for their support and ongoing collaboration as we work to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in Texas," Gov. Greg Abbott's said. "This funding is a critical to helping local governments protect Texans and combat the spread of the virus in our communities. The State of Texas will continue to work with the federal government to help meet the needs of our cities and counties as they respond to COVID-19."

The first round of awards totals $7 million. Funds are awarded under the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program.

Funds will be used for first responder overtime and hazard pay; teleworking equipment and supplies; personal protective gear, and county jail costs related to inmates' medical needs due to the pandemic.
