There were 623 students enrolled in Hico ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.1% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.5% of them were boys, and 46.5% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 75% of the Hico ISD total enrollment.

Hico ISD roughly covers schools within Hamilton County with its main office in Hico.

Among the two schools in Hico ISD, Hico Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 333 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
