There were 720 students enrolled in De Leon ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 4.5% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.1% of them were boys, and 48.9% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 57.9% of the De Leon ISD total enrollment.

De Leon ISD roughly covers schools within Comanche County with its main office in De Leon.

Among the three schools in De Leon ISD, De Leon Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 349 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
