There were 188 students enrolled in Brookesmith ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.6% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 59% of them were boys, and 41% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 70.2% of the Brookesmith ISD total enrollment.

Brookesmith ISD roughly covers schools within Brown County with its main office in Brookesmith.

Among the six schools in Brookesmith ISD, Brookesmith School recorded the highest enrollment of 144 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
