BRAZOS RIVER AUTHORITY: Get into the Fall Spirit with these Fun Events

Brazos River Authority issued the following announcement.

Upper Brazos Basin

  • Nov. 7: GRANBURY – First Saturday Bird Walk, 7 – 9 a.m. at Acton Nature Center, 6500 Smoky Hill Court, Granbury

    Dr. Billy Teels, who earned a Ph.D. in Wildlife Ecology from Mississippi State University and after working as a biologist for 30 years is now retired, leads a monthly bird walk through the town of Granbury. Bring your binoculars and plenty of water! For more information, click here.

  • Nov. 12: ABILENE – Living Pilgrim Experience, 6:30 – 9 p.m. at 810 Butternut Street, Abilene

    Immerse yourself into the lives of the Pilgrims when they traveled to America nearly 400 years ago. Guests are encouraged to dress as Pilgrims and will draw a name of one of the voyagers and learn their fate at the end of the event. Scenes of planting corn, traveling on the Mayflower and the first Thanksgiving are included in this festive event. Tickets for adults are $5, ages 5 to 17 are $3 and free for ages 4 and younger.   • Nov. 14-15: GRANBURY – Harvest Moon Festival of the Arts at 201 E Pearl St, Granbury

    Enjoy the historic Granbury Downtown Square during the Harvest Moon Festival of the Arts. This long-running festival will showcase 30 different artists, craftspeople and more. There will also be food, local entertainment and more. This event is free to attend. To learn more, click here. 

Central Brazos Basin

  • Nov. 8: STEPHENVILLE – Fall Festival at Great American Lone Star Ranch, 10 a.m. – Dusk at 5396 S US Hwy 281, Stephenville

    Experience the first-ever Fall Festival at the beautiful Great American Lone Star Ranch in Stephenville. With a petting farm, animal races, corn hole, pedal tractors, a pumpkin patch and more, this is the perfect fall event for the whole family! Tickets for this event are $20 per person, and ages 3 and younger are free. Price includes all attractions except food, store items and pumpkins. Learn more about the event here.

  • Nov. 13: TEMPLE – Family Fun Night, 6 – 8 p.m. at Gober Party House, 1516 W Avenue H., Temple

    Enjoy a fun game night with this social gathering designated for people with disabilities. Modifications can be made to help accommodate participants. Pre-registration is required. To learn more, click here or call 254-298-5690.

  • Nov. 18: WOODWAY – Lunch with the Masters, 12 – 2 p.m. at Carleen Bright Arboretum, 9001 Bosque Blvd., Woodway

    Join Master Gardener Pat Goaley for a free horticulture seminar discussing “Anecdotes from the Garden.” Bring your own lunch and your questions about vegetables, gardening, bulbs and other gardening topics. To learn more about this event, click here.

Lower Brazos Basin

  • Nov. 7: BELLVILLE – Bellville Market Day and Farmers Market, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Bishop Pavilion, N. Bell Street, Bellville

    Visit the Farmers Market in Bellville for homegrown seasonal fruits and vegetables, baked goods and more. This Farmers Market is free to the public and is located at the corner of Bell and Palm Streets. Click here for more information.  

  • Nov. 7: RICHMOND – Farmers Market, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. at 8939 Harlem Road, Richmond

    Visit the Harvest Green Farmer’s Market for high-quality goods. You can purchase your weekly groceries and enjoy quality local food while your kids play on the adjacent playground and maze. Open year-round, rain or shine. To learn more, click here.

  • Nov. 7: SEALY – Downtown Sealy Car Social, 4 – 7 p.m. at Main Street and Fowlkes, Sealy

  • Nov. 14: SUGAR LAND – Movie Under the Moon, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Highway 6 and U.S 59, Sugarland

    Bring your family, friends and lawn chairs to enjoy the movie Aladdin under a starry night sky. Reservations for this event are required. For more information, click here.

Virtual Activities

  • Nov. 10: TPWD Bass Fishing: Lure Rigs Virtual Class, 6 – 7:30 p.m.

    Calling beginner anglers! This free online class will help increase your knowledge of bass fishing. Including a live demonstration of how to rig, TPWD Angler Education Instructor Stacy Holt will teach you everything you need to know about bass fishing rigs. A Q&A will follow the hour-long online session. All ages are welcome to join in, but participants who are ages 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required.   • Waco’s Parks and Recreation Department’s RECess

    Waco’s Parks and Recreation Department has launched RECess, a new interactive experience that offers virtual recreational activities for the whole family. Each week has a new lineup of activities, from making your own lava lamp, painting ladybug rocks, learning how to recycle a T-shirt into a tote bag, and there are online guides for fitness for kids!
