City of Brownwood approves 2.36% decrease in general fund for upcoming year

The City of Brownwood has released its budget totals document for fiscal year 2021with the general fund decreased by 2.36% to $17.2 million. 

The previous year, the general fund's budget was $17.6 million, which was a $416,937 decrease. The general fund was the only part of the budget that was cut compared to last year's budget. The City of Brownwood increased the budgets for the utility fund, sanitation fund, airport fund and the tax supported bond funds. 

The utility fund was increased to $10.4 million, which increased by $15,687. The sanitation fund has a $198,000 increase or a 3.19% increase, which puts it at $6.37 million. The airport's $713,000 fund was increased by $2,000. The tax supported bond funds saw an increase or $10,308, bring it to $1.34 million.

While the majority of funds in the budget see an increase, the overall difference from last year's budget shows a decrease in budget funding by 0.53%, which comes from the general fund.
