The City of Gordon in Palo Pinto County has landed over $900,000 in assistance from the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) to improve its water system.
That includes a $100,000 loan and $801,323 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, the board said in a news release.
The funds will go towards planning, design and construction costs to replace a mile of water distribution lines and replace water meters that have to be read by hand with those that can be read with radio signals, the board said.
“These enhancements will reduce water loss, improve meter accuracy, better track water usage, and reduce costs,” the board said.
TWDB helps local governments build water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects. It is also responsible for water supply and flood planning, financing, and research.
