The Palo Pinto Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of a suspect who is allegedly taking advantage of elderly residents near Old Millsap Highway.

The man, dressed in a yellow fluorescent vest, is visiting homes. The sheriff’s Facebook site indicates the suspect is impersonating a serviceman who is being sent to perform duties and that require payment in advance.

He is driving a white Dodge utility pickup with tool boxes.

The National Council on Aging advises seniors to be aware of the risk strangers can pose. They should tell solicitors who arrived unannounced to send them something in writing, and time should be taken before accepting services.

Seniors should also be skeptical of all unsolicited offers and do their research. Find some references on the people offering goods and services. Most importantly, do not be pressured by someone to provide services.
