A shelter-in-place order was put into effect in Graham after four total residents were diagnosed with COVID-19 as of March 31, according to Weather For Democrat.
The order is set to be in place through April 14, a date the Graham City Council meeting came to during an emergency meeting. All gatherings and non-essential travel is barred. Essential activities that are allowed include helping senior citizens, children, and those with disabilities.
Mayor Neal Blanton also made more steps when he declared a local disaster near Young County by Possum Kingdom Lake. His came just after Governor Greg Abbott released emergency orders as well.
Other surrounding areas that are taking similar measures include Palo Pinto County and the City of Mineral Wells. Their declarations have been pushed back indefinitely.
These are all steps the city is taking with the hopes of helping guard and shelter the population that is considered “the most vulnerable,” according to Weather For Democrat.
